winter morning - at st kilda beach
it's been a while since my husband and i have been for a morning walk, it's been chilly everyday, but when we saw the fog this morning something seemed to beckon us to explore what's out there....and loved it...

winter sunset - at eastern beach, geelong
A much needed break brought me to Geelong, a much-loved place, with people close to me...
It was cold, almost freezing but so was my heart...
I haven't had the chance to watch a beach sunset for quite a while till today....
Beautiful day, I thought.

Somewhere in time - at Mt. Eliza/Frankston Beach
Spending Monday outside work is such a welcomed change, especially that there will be three more Mondays (and tues, wed, thurs, fri) when I don't have to wake up early to prepare lunches and get to work - 'sleep-in' is the word... The kids are also on their school break, which also means I get to spend time with them :-)) Just today, we have lovely guests from Malaysia, whom we haven't met for at least five years....it's such a joy meeting them at the airport and bringing them around....and because they're here for just a few days we've got to ensure their stay will be as memorable as possible...but, oh no, it started raining cats and dogs today.....but wait, the sun was kind enough to peek through even for just a while this afternoon which brought us to an unplanned drive on one of our favourite places, the beach road...where we discovered Mt. Eliza along the way after heading off to Frankston beach, which is more than an hour's drive south-east from the city...
we had at least a good two hours of fine weather before it started raining again and off we went.....back home for a another rainy night with dinner of steaming hot focaccia cheese ripiana, roast pork, rice and salads.

along the shores of corio bay- western beach, geelong
i was so excited about the public holiday which fell last wednesday, australia day...the weather was fine, and two of my sisters, their husbands and some of their kids came with me and my two kids. i thought that the best place to bring them was somewhere not far from melbourne...geelong is just 75 northwest from the city, noted for its beautiful beach view, clean and vibrant environment...first, we explored western beach where we went on a boat cruise along corio bay from cunningham pier, had some food at the stalls set up for the weeklong festival for 'victoria week' and then the kids had fun swimming at eastern beach..as we drove home i overheard my brother-in-law saying how much he would like to spend another day in geelong... what a very pleasant day!

rays of hope
And a woman... said, Speak to us of Children.
and he said:
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls.
For their souls dwell in the house of to-morrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the Archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.
--Kahlil Gibran, from the book The Prophet.
These photos were taken at Brighton beach, late afternoon last weekend when my family went for a drive and stopped by...oh, how i loved watching the children playing in the water, and the people who were paragliding, what a lovely day.
