A taste of heaven on earth

This has become an instant favourite either for breakfast or dessert -
cinnamon-coated French Toast with blueberry compote maple syrup, fraiche. At Mr. Hobson's, Station Pier, Port Melbourne :)) I had this after a photowalk with my best buddy, Marge.

yummy dessert -Mango Gateau

This is probably one of the cakes that has instantly become my favourite lately.  I first tasted this at a friend's birthday party... actually one of the two birthday cakes that she had for the day. Mango Gateau is a French style sponge cake traditionally made with cream and may be a multilayered cake, this one (above photo) is  topped and layered with thin slices of sweet fresh mangoes and wrapped in crepes! It's the kind of cake that one could never have enough even after eating a few slices....and hmmm, how it melts in the mouth...
One can buy this from BreadTop, a chain of bakeshops in Melbourne that has recently became very popular among Asians and Aussies.

pan-fried prawn omellete - a favourite

this is probably one of my most favourite food, it's easy to cook and of course, delicious!!!! you only need: half-a-kilo of peeled prawns, two sliced tomatoes, a bulb of onion thinly sliced, a few stems of spring onions, a pinch of salt, a dash of pepper, and four eggs well-beaten. first, fry the onion with a little oil till a bit brown, add in the prawns till the colour changes to orange, then add in the tomatoes, spring onions, salt and pepper, stir well, then add the aggs, cook for another 10 minutes without stirring and presto, you have a delicious omellete! this serves four people. this can be eaten with rice or toast.

an extra large cupcake for my birthday!

This is my XL cupcake surrounded with more than a dozen mini cupackes baked by mom for my birthday. I had a 3-in-1 celebration, the first one was a family picnic last Sunday with my niece and grand nephew who were also celebrating their birthdays which was held at a nearby park. There were more than thirty friends and relatives who shared a big feast and barbecue with us. Then, my colleagues at work gave me a surprise celebration of colourful cupcakes with candles, decorating my office with balloons and a 'happy birthday' streamer and gifts. Then my mom and sisters together with their families organized a surprise birthday dinner at home! What a wonderful wonderful day indeed!
I could never thank my family and friends enough for their love and thoughtfulness ...

Indian food!

My family went to Hawthorn, east of Melbourne, to attend a conference, and had our lunch at an Indian restaurant across the road. We had butter chicken, lamb, chicken and vegetable curries with saffron rice, and mango lassi is a yoghurt drink that we love to drink after a curry meal!
If you walk around the city and its neighbouring suburbs one will find, among a plethora of other food places, a variety of Indian restaurants that is certain to satisfy a spicy food lover!
